Employment & Labor Laws in UAE

♦ Written employment contracts
Written employment contracts are mandatory for complaint visa sponsorship and getting hired in UAE. These contracts should mention job responsibilities, salary packages, other incentives, and termination clauses and abide by local labour laws
♦ Working hours per week
With a maximum of 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week, employees in UAE work most;y 5-6 days a week, starting from Sunday to Thursday. Fridays are off as governed by the local labour laws.
♦ Health insurance
Employees are provided with health insurance sponsored by the employer, and the insurance also covers the spouse and dependents of the employee.
♦ Vacation leave
The number of days for vacation leaves varies on the period of employment. However, all employees are granted standard 30 calendar days of vacation leave annually (if employed for over six months).
♦ Sick leave
After the probation period, employees can get up to 90 days of sick leave annually. Payment of wages varies with the number of days taken off.
♦ Maternity leave
On maternity leaves, female employees can take up to 45 days off (full pay) if the employment period is over a year or at half payment if the employment period is less than a year. Fathers can take five days of paternity leave within six months of childbirth.
UAE’S Payment Laws and Other Incentives

♦ Salary Packages
UAE nationals have varying salary packages based on their level of education. High school graduates earn a minimum of 4,000 AED per month, and college certificate holders are paid 5,000 AED per month. In case of no high school certification, employees make no less than 3,000 AED/month. Employees are also compensated for overtime or extra days of work.
♦ Paid Leaves
Employees are entitled to obtain official public holidays off with full pay, get sick leaves, vacation leaves, maternity and paternity leave based (with varying payment plans based on the period of employment).
♦ Benefits & compensation restrictions
As compiled by the UAE employment laws, participation in labour strikes and trade unions is considered a criminal offence.
